Monthly General Meeting and BBQ tomorrow

The weather forecast for the weekend looks terrific. Saturday Jerry and Alasdair will trade towing and CFIG duties, and an afternoon instructional or intro flight slot is still available.

Per our club constitution, we’ve chosen the last Saturday of the month for the club’s General Meeting. Even if you don’t plan to fly, join us for the meeting and a pot luck BBQ. Please bring your meal and a shareable side dish and we’ll fire up the grills around 5 pm.

Notam Update:

Stopped in and spoke with contest managers. An additional Notam added today for Right traffic to RW11. Makes good sense now.

So – Come out and fly but stay out of the box. Right traffic for RW23 and RW11 this weekend 🙂 Thanks.

Basically – Stay out of the box and right patterns for RW23 this weekend. The box is shifted a bit further away from the dam this year so RW29/11 remains open.

One further thought… Not sure why they didn’t make 11 right pattern too, but since it’s not Notam’d that way, be careful if using that runway – suggest midfield cross-wind entry as a normal 45 degree entry to RW11 would put you squarely in the box.

Weekend review

Two great (if rather hot) soaring days this weekend. Lot’s of club member and intro flights. Nice also to see not just lots of people but lot’s of ships flying at the same time – Q2, VOL, B9, IC, YZ, i1, 003, both club 2-33’s and the 1-26 all took to the skies most for multi-hour flights.

Congratulations Ben Berg, NESA’s Newest Certificated Glider Pilot

Congratulations to Ben Berg, and his mom and dad who supported him, as he passed his Private Pilot-Glider Practical Test today!

Despite winds that were a bit gusty, he performed to the test standards over three flights and was awarded his Pilot Certificate. Way to go, Ben! Now you can take that growing list of family and friends for a glider flight!
