Tow plane is back in service

The starter repair has been completed and the tug signed off for return to service.

Tow pilots, instructors and ground support volunteers are needed for this weekend.

Please sign up on the club scheduler if you want to fly, or can tow or instruct this weekend.

No club operations this weekend

We’ve unfortunately experienced a problem with the starter on the Callair towplane. We’d hoped to have it resolved by the weekend, but that’s just not going to happen.

Let’s look forward to several more weeks of soaring. As soon as the repair has been made, we’ll post to all members.

Come out and fly this weekend!

There has been good soaring weather all summer, and this weekend looks good as well. If you haven’t flown yet this season, sign up and get your checkout flights. Slots are available by signing up on the club scheduler. Looks like a beautiful fall weekend ahead for soaring! The club needs to have your VOSHA Covid Training certificate on file, and masks, social distancing and adherence to our Covid Standard Operating Procedures is required. Links to the VOSHA Training program and club SOP’s can be found on the FlyNESA.com website under Member Resources.

August 29 meeting cancelled

Tomorrow’s weather looks unflyable with ceilings less than 1000′. No members have signed up to fly, so it seems only logical to cancel tomorrow’s meeting and reschedule for a more weather-friendly date.

In spite of this setback, club activities are increasing. If you want to fly and need a check flight or instruction, please contact one of the NESA instructor pilots.

NESA General Meeting

Dear NESA Members,
Our Club Constitution calls for General Meetings to be held monthly during the flying season, from April through October. At the Annual Meeting we agreed the meetings would take place on the last Saturday of the month.
The restrictions imposed on public assemblies beginning in March have, until now, kept us from holding monthly meetings. With the recent changes to Vermont’s Covid directives, we will be able to hold this month’s meeting on it’s scheduled date, Saturday, August 29th, at Susan and Larry’s (formerly Walter’s) hangar next to TWY A. I’ll fire up the grills around 5 pm, you bring your favorite grilling item for a BYO BBQ.
We must comply with State requirements:

  • NESA must have your VOSHA Covid training certificate on file. If you haven’t already done so, you can complete the training at VOSHA TRAINING
  • Temperature will be recorded when members arrive, and members must affirm no recent health issues, contact with potential carriers, or travel to or from higher affected regions as detailed on the current permitted and quarantine required travel map: VT Cross-border Permitted & quarantine restrictions map.
  • Masks to be worn if 6′ social distancing can’t be maintained outdoors, masks are required indoors.

This is a Bring-Your-Own event. Unfortunately we won’t be supplying beverages, condiments, plates, etc., and access to the terminal building is limited to one person at a time. I am not certain we have permission to use the folding metal chairs we’ve used in the past, so you may want to bring a lawn chair.

This is a first step towards getting the social aspects of NESA back in gear. There have been several excellent soaring days, and club instructors are available, by using the club scheduler on the flynesa.com website.

I hope you’ll be able to join us, Saturday

Larry
