All tucked away for winter :-(

Thank you to the huge crew that showed up today to help with getting all the club ships put away for winter everything was done in record time.

Both 2-33’s and the 1-34 in Alasdair’s Hangar
Neatly tucked away
1-26 in Bills shop ready for a little clean up
Meanwhile, over in Larry and Susan’s hangar…the Callair remains ready to go and we actually did a little Assembly after all the disassembly – the PW is finally back together after wave-camp and ready for a little winter soaring.

It was a perfect weather day to take care of it, the sun took the edge of the cold and Bill and Fitz even managed to get a little Cub flying in after everything was done. Awesome.

43rd Women’s Soaring Seminar – 24-28 August 2020, Springfield, VT

The New England Soaring Association (NESA) operates out of the Hartness State Airport (KVSF), Springfield, VT. KVSF is less than a 2 hour drive from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and 2.5 hours drive from Boston Logan International Airport. While NESA is the primary sponsor, other New England clubs are helping out by supplying additional two-place gliders, XC mentor pilots, instructors, tow planes, tow pilots, and presenters for the week.

Mark your 2020 calendars!

Jan 11th – Club Annual Meeting and Dinner (Maclaomainn’s, Chester). Details coming soon.

6/26 – 7/5 – Region 1 Sports class contest. We need volunteers and tow-pilots to staff the week!

8/3 to 8/7 – Aviation Careers Education Camp (ACE). We need volunteers and tow-pilots.

8/24-8/28 – Womens Soaring Pilots Association Seminar. Guess what – we need volunteers, instructors and tow-pilots.

More details to come on all of these, but we have some great events lined up for next year to bring in visitors and fellow soaring pilots so plan to help out!

Weekend Update

Fairly quiet weekend here at KVSF with many folks either still at or travelling back from Wave Camp.

Still, we managed to get several instructional flights in both days. It really is nice, now that we are operating our own tug, to be able to keep operations going at the home field at the same time as wave camp is running in Gorham.

Thanks to Bob Iuliano and Alasdair Crawford for providing the towing and instruction both days.

Weekend update

Couple of nice flying days so far.

Friday B9, WQ and the Andy K. in 1-34 all had nice long flights. Alasdair towed.

Today i1 (Walter), B9, Andy K in the 1-26 and Greg H in the 1-34 again all had nice long flights. Our new junior member Colby had his first lesson (over an hour) in the 2-33 with Alasdair. It was nice to see all the NESA aircraft in the air at one time 2-33, 1-26, 1-34 and the Callair. A good club day. Thanks to Bill for towing.

Tomorrows forecast looks good, Jerry will be here to tow and/or instruct. Come on out and fly.

N7729V is now at KVSF!

Bill, Jerry and Alasdair headed out in Bill and Annies 182 this morning for Smyrna, DE to bring our new Callair tug home.

Here she is tucked into Larry’s hangar with the PW-6, almost ready to tow.

We will probably use the Pawnee this weekend while starting to work on getting tow-pilots checked out to fly the Callair.

We are all pretty excited. Come out and see her and buy some tows!

Cheers,

Alasdair, Bill & Jerry.

N1242S Returns to the Sky

Today was not only a good soaring day but a good day for NESA. Our yellow 2-33 made two successful hour+ test flights today after completion of the rebuild, recover, repaint, new weight and balance and of course an annual inspection.

Bill flew the first flight and Alasdair the second. Both reported normal handling after conducting a variety of stalls, spin entries etc. Welcome back N1242S.

Thanks to all who helped with this project, now come out and fly it!

Almost there..

Just a little paperwork and a test flight to go. N1242S is back in its tie-down and almost back on the line. Huge thanks to Bill and all the volunteers who have helped with the rebuild, recover and refurbishment.

N1242S – 7/9/2019

Friday 6/28 Report

Lots of flying and long flights today, WQ, B9, IC, i1, and the club 1-34 and 1-26 all flew long multi-hour flights today. There was decent lift to 7K, good streeting with the occasional down cycle.

If you haven’t joined the mid-week flying email list, contact Greg Hunter and get on it!.

In between spraying the stripes on the yellow 2-33 refurbishment project, B2 provided the final tow for Jerry in i1 after he towed everyone else so that everyone could get in the air.

A good day of flying all around.
